About Armenian language
The Armenian language is spoken by the Armenian people, who are originally from the Caucasus, in the Republic of Armenia and in the enclave region of Nagorno-Karabakh, where (in both) it is the official language, as well as by the Armenian communities of the Armenian diaspora in several countries such as France, Greece, Lebanon, Syria, Argentina, Canada and the United States (mostly in New York and Los Angeles). Armenian language is also widely spoken in the surrounding countries: Russia, Turkey, Iran, Georgia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
This Indo-European language has its own script, the Armenian alphabet, which is spoken by almost seven million people in the world and is considered to be an independent branch of the Indo-European language family.
The Armenian language has three main dialects: the Classical Armenian, which is currently just a liturgical idiom; the Eastern Armenian, which is spoken in the Republic of Armenia, Russia and Iran; and the Western Armenian, which is spoken in Turkey and by the western communities of the Armenian diaspora.
The major Armenian language dialects can also be subdivided into other individual subdialects, although a lot of them have died due to the Armenian genocide, which can, sometimes, be very difficult to understand by those who speak other variations of the language.
